What Limits Are Imposed?

  • I’ve sent more than 300 emails.

  • I’ve been rate limited.

  • Blocked for sending too many emails?

  • Why can’t I send more than 300 emails?

Email accounts are automatically suspended for sending more than 300 emails in the current hour. That does not mean that it is okay to send 300 emails per hour. You should be sending quality emails, necessary emails, and emails that people want to receive.

More specific limit values:
100 per recipient, per hour
300 per sender, per hour

Limits subject to change as needed to address trends that cause problems for our customers.

There are two main limits.

  1. The storage you paid for.
Pretty self-explanatory, you pay for what you expect to use.

  2. The rate in which you can send emails.
See Jarland’s reply to this question

Should you need your limits to be increased, please get in touch with the MXRoute Support Team.

To be completely clear, the rate limits can not be changed under normal circumstances. Only if we really really like you

just to clarify, once we go past:

then the associated email account(s) will go into suspended mode?

@taxico I believe the accounts would bounce any further outbound emails for the rest of the hour. However, please do not use multiple address to get around the 100 emails per recipient.

Email accounts being suspended are usually conducted manually; you’ll be able to release the suspension in your cPanel. However, you should ensure you’ve resolved the issue as further action may result in further consequences.
