Plans for non-profits and storage options

Hello!

I’m writing this question on behalf of a local radio station located in Portugal. We are a non profit station mostly comprised of students (but not only), and in which everyone is a volunteer.
We are currently analysing the possibility of migrating all our web services to new providers, and starting managing them ourselves, as we believe this is the true nature of our radio (as we try to maintain everything ourselves and teach new generations of volunteers through our courses). MXRoute readily caught our attention as a possible solution for our email service. Yet, due to our large number of volunteers, the largest yearly plan (50GB of storage) may be a bit restrictive as the years go by and more people join us. Because of this, I’d like to know if there is a possibility to have larger plans of email hosting. Also, since we are entirely non-profit and try to be the least commercial-driven as possible, our funds are quite minute, and so I take this chance to also ask if there are any special plans or discounts for non-profits like us.

Best regards,
J Aveiro

Might I suggest that you investigate Google for Non-Profits.

If your organization qualifies, they will provide web and email hosting at no charge.

As far as the storage space limitation goes, it is possible to purchase a reseller service (with up to 150gb storage) and use it for a single organization. However, that is not really a recommended path forward as there are many differences between the levels of service.

I have not seen any specific plans or discounts for non-profits, but perhaps @Jarland can weigh in if anything is available.

At the moment I’m not prepared to sell up front to anyone with needs larger than that, with exception of our reseller service (which I do not recommend choosing simply to get over the disk space hurdle as the user experience is very different and not refined in the slightest). If someone has the 50GB plan and hits their quota limit I can work with them, but I’m just not ready to sell a guarantee of going over that on a regular basis.

Thank you for your response. Sadly, the Google for Non-Profits programme doesn’t cover my country.

It is possible and I do my best to accommodate it. I estimate around 1 out of 1000 customers do see some issues though, because Google doesn’t accept all email when forwarded anymore. As a result, I don’t forward the ones that I know they won’t accept. For example, they no longer accept forwarded email from yahoo.com. It’s a very small number of customers that care, but that’s what I spend my time dealing with, the minority of users with issues as opposed to the silent majority that carry on without concern. If you think you might be that 1 out of 1000, Google offers an alternative that retrieves email from our servers and I believe it lets you delete the emails from our server upon retrieval.

Thank your for your quick response. For now, the 50GB would suffice with a good margin. My interest in a bigger plan was mostly to allow for a sudden growth that we experience every year with the arrival of new members, and which is only temporary until we can go through the archival process of old emails. Also, so far, 50GB seems to be much more than the provided by other companies for the prices we can afford.

I take this chance once again to ask you one more question: in some email platforms there is a possibility to redirect the incoming emails to a personal Gmail account, thus not using local storage but Google’s storage. Is this possible with MxRoute as well?
