Cannot send anything from old 1st Gen Ipad - ports?

Hi, no matter what I do, I can’t seem to send anything from an old ipad I’m trying to resurrect.

I’ve copied the imap setting directly from my newer iphone which works perfectly but everything I try to send from the ipad gets stuck in the outbox with a failed to send message saying it cannot verify the outgoing server. Are other ports used for old IOS 9 devices?

What ports should I be using? Halp.

Weirdly, on my phone I have use SSL enabled for incoming settings but when I enable this on the ipad I get “cannot contact server”

It’s entirely plausible that the old iOS version is attempting to use TLS 1.1 which recently reached end of life. Try using port 25 or 2525 without SSL and see if that works.
